Abstract: THE ROLE OF FUND ACCOUNTANTS IN INVESTMENT VALUATION
This study aims to: (1) analyze the critical role of fund accountants in investment valuation, (2) identify the challenges faced during the valuation process, and (3) propose best practices for accurate and reliable investment valuation. A survey design was employed to collect data from 340 fund accountants in Lagos, with the sample size determined using Taro Yamane's formula. Lagos was chosen due to its dynamic financial market. The survey instrument had a reliability coefficient score of 0.88. Findings show that fund accountants play a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of investment valuations, which are critical for investor decision-making and regulatory compliance. The study recommends the adoption of advanced valuation models and continuous professional development for fund accountants to enhance their expertise and the reliability of investment valuations.
